PolyScience collaborated with Cesaroni Design
to develop a new product line of temperature control equipment.
We worked closely with PolyScience's engineering staff to improve
upon the existing units and better understand assembly and service
requirements.
The ideation process included concept renderings and screen
images of the new product line to evaluate different design
languages. The chosen concept was further developed by creating
prototype geometry using SolidWorks. The resulting part files
were shared with our client for further review. A prototype
model was built to ensure aesthetics, fit, finish, function
and service of the new units.
The new line of circulating water baths conveys a sophisticated
yet commercial design language. Human factors, assembly and
service drove the basic functionality of the industrial design
priorities.
This ergonomic design integrates convenient handles for ease
of repositioning the units. The new products are designed with
a unique lid docking system to store the reservoir cover. This
design element eliminates mess when adding or removing liquid
and samples. A corrosion and chemical resistant top plate dampens
noise and remains cooler at high temperatures.
The compact design of the control head occupies a minimum of
reservoir space to provide more room for liquid and samples.
The control head can be rotated within a 180-degree radius.
The operator can also easily view the temperatures with the
large digital display.
The intuitive interface design makes the units simple to operate.
Their LCD touchscreen technology features an icon driven interface
to guide users through setup and operation. The operator can
easily scroll through menus, functions and options, even while
wearing gloves.
The units are easy to maintain. The design team incorporated
a front mount drain and washable air filter to simplify maintenance.
