Nucraft collaborated with Cesaroni Design
on a table system design with reconfiguration capability transforming
from a boardroom table to a conference room u shape or training
room rows.
Form and function drove the overall aesthetic design of this
new product. The design team paid close attention to proportion
and reconfiguration. This table design is reduced down to its
basic elements- a tabletop and two panel bases. The enclosed
large proportioned bases give the feel of performance and stability,
which is a critical design element for the executive conference
room application.
The product designers used metal accents to provide durability
and create a visual termination to the length of the panel from
top to bottom. The industrial design keeps all detailing clean
and crisp to retain a timeless look.
The innovative design solution breaks up larger proportions
into light and elegant mobile objects. The design team utilized
omni-directional ball casters within the folding panel bases
to eliminate visual clutter.
A unique ratcheting screw mechanism, similar to a socket wrench,
achieves the tightness and flushness of the tabletops. The solid
connection between tabletops enables the end leg panels to be
pivoted inward maximizing the number of people that can be seated
around the table.
Wire management gaps are at the tops of all table bases and
above modesty panels to permit the wires to pass from table
to table. A plug strip is mounted to the back of modesty panels
to provide the user with convenient power access.
The new product design was recognized with a Best of NeoCon
Gold Award and a Good Design award from The Chicago Athenaeum.
